Evelyn Glennie

Evelyn Glennie is an internationally-renowned Scottish composer, and is considered one of the world's best. She is the first and only full-time solo classical percussionist, and her work has garnered her dozens of international awards and honors. She has performed with major performers, and with most if not all of the finest orchestras in America and Europe.

Since the age of 12, Evelyn has been profoundly deaf, which means she has significant but not total hearing loss. Evelyn has not allowed her profound deafness to impair her amazing and critically acclaimed work.

Evelyn is an incredible musician. I love the evocative, ethereal and sometimes mysterious quality of her work—especially her performances with the marimba. We chose to incorporate Evelyn's incredible compositions into People Say I'm Crazy because of these qualities. The music takes the film to an entirely different level, and I think it's part of the reason people develop an emotional intimacy with the documentary.
